as part of the

Oakville Cancer Relay for Life

at

Appleby College

Tater Vox played at Appleby College at Oakville's Cancer Relay for Life for the first time last May 31, 2002.  We've been invited back again this year for our 3rd visit and we're thrilled to be assisting the Canadian Cancer Society - Oakville area.

This event is a wonderful way to have some fun listening to great tunes and raise money for a VERY worthwhile cause.

The events kick off around 4:15 p.m. with "live" entertainment provided by a local groups

High energy aerobics will warm-up the crowd for the pending race and then the relay event, beginning Friday, June 04, 2004 at 7:00pm. and ending on Saturday, June 5th at 7:00am.

Entertainment will include a repeat visit from a musical friend of ours - Ryan Schneider performing with his band.  This is a great group of young people who really know how to rock and have fun!

Tatervox will be wowin' the crowd with classic rock from 7:30 until 8:30 before we head off to the competition - - Burlington's Cancer Relay for Life at Bronte Park!!!  This band gets around folks!

The event has been attended by Halton Region Chair Joyce Savoline, who in the past has read the names of the 'survivors' present at the Relay.  These same survivors are typically met with a wild round of applause before they complet the "Survivor's Round" - the first group to do a lap around the relay site.  It is truly a moving experience for all in attendance.

There were 80 survivors in the victory walk in 2002 - - in 2003 the number jumped to around 140!!  We can hardly wait to see 2004's number Oakville!

We also participated in the Cancer Relay for Life in 2001, 2002 and 2003 at the Dofasco Recreation Park in Stoney Creek, and have a 'first person' article posted on our site by our very own Golden Tater Award recipient, former band member and co-founder, Randy Broten.  Click here for the article.
